The Humphead Wrasse is a very large spectacular fish that has a unique role in the coral reef ecosystem. The Wrasse fish eat crown-of-thorn starfish and therefore keep populations of this damaging coral reef predator in check. Unfortunately, they are also highly praised in the Asian live fish markets and during many decades of extensive fishing, it has become an endangered species. I had an incredibly rewarding time drawing all the intricate doodles that make up the patterns on this beautiful fish. Doodling for a good cause never felt better.
