Description
This is a historical bird, often depicted in Japanese art, a splendid one called Crested Ibis. Hunted for its beautiful plumage and as a game, even from a few centuries ago, also losing habitat in the face of human expansion, this guy disappeared from Japan until the recent '80's when China discovered they had about 7 of them in a remote area. Since then, through extensive captive breeding programs, this ibis has slowly increased its numbers, but it still remains endangered.
Art is a special tool that I am proud I can use, to spread visual reminders about our role on the environment and wildlife.
